FF #14

Eric's Week 12 Pull List

[caption id=“attachment_470” align=“alignleft” width=“197” caption=“FF #14”] [/caption] FF #14 - This issue continues where the last one left off with the kids, Doom, and Grey Reed facing off against The Celestials. It also indirectly leads right into Fantastic Four #602. Astonishing X-Men Vol 3 #46 - The issue wavers in quality, but continues to tell a promising story. Batman: The Dark Knight Vol 2 #5 - I really came close to hating this story. It’s once again using a similar plot as a Batman issue from the same month and not doing it in a compelling way Justice League Vol 2 #5 - It’s still a middle-of-the-road book. I’m awaiting the end of this story arc. X-Men Legacy #261 - this issue does what I wish the Cyclops books (Uncanny, X-Me, etc) would do - advance the characters lives, emotions, etc in addition to having some action elements [caption id=“attachment_471” align=“alignright” width=“197” caption=“Secret Avengers #21.1”] [/caption] ...

X-Men Legacy #260.1

Eric's Week 10 Pull List

[caption id=“attachment_434” align=“alignleft” width=“197” caption=“X-Men Legacy #260.1”] [/caption] X-Men Legacy #260.1 - Rogue and team head to Wolverine’s school to work security. They struggle with the idea of keeping the kids from having the X-Men childhood they did. The book leaves Mike Carey’s hands, but Christos Gage does a good job with his first issue. Superboy Vol 5 #5 - a little more forward momentum on the story, but not much Magneto: Not A Hero #3 - this mini-series continues to explore how Magneto has and hasn’t evolved over the years. Depending on how it ends next month, could be something I recommend for the trades Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 #677 - the start of a short crossover with Daredevil. It’s a fun story and I’m curious to see how it ends [caption id=“attachment_435” align=“alignright” width=“193” caption=“Batwoman #5”] [/caption] ...

X-Men Legacy #260

Eric's Pull List for Week 8

This week was a very small release for me, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t have some fun titles to read. It was a bit X-Men week, that’s for sure! I had 3 explicit X-Men books and Avengers: Children’s Crusade features them quite heavily as well. [caption id=“attachment_385” align=“alignleft” width=“197” caption=“X-Men Legacy #260”] [/caption] Uncanny X-Men Vol 2 #3 - The X-Men face off against Mr Sinister AND the Celestials. Also, some information about Hope is divulged. Pretty good issue although it depends on how much you like Sinister’s rants. Avengers: Children’s Crusade #8 - Things continue to get complicated in the mini-series that’s bringing Scarlett Witch back into everyone’s life. Teen Titans Vol 4 #4 - The battle gets started, but just barely. Next issue will have the real face-off Astonishing X-Men Vol 3 #45 - This story arc starts getting really interesting. I think next issue’s going to prove pretty exciting X-Men Legacy #260 - Mike Carey ends his run and this arc. It’s going to be a different book starting next issue. Batman: The Dark Knight Vol 2 #4 - this issue has good and bad parts but it’s still not a great case for why there are so many Batman titles

FF #12

Eric's Pull List for Week 5

[caption id=“attachment_249” align=“alignleft” width=“197” caption=“FF #12”] [/caption] Unlike last week, this week was a very small release week for me. It was all Marvel and it was mostly X-Men related. Wolverine Vol 4 #19 - Wolverine’s adventures in Chinatown come to an end. I enjoyed this issue more than the others in this arc. I think it’s convinced me to keep this book on my radar. I probably won’t be collecting it monthly, but I’ll check out future trades. X-Men Legacy #259 - This book finally joins the rest of the X-books in the regenesis story line. It’s the first X-Men legacy issue I’ve liked since they went to space. I heard Mike Carey is leaving the book after this story arc so I wonder if it’s going to go off in a new direction. FF #12 - This was an entertaining issue as can always be expected when Valeria and Doom are involved. I wasn’t a huge fan of the pencilling in this issue. I found it distracted me at points. I did love the cover, by usual artist Steve Epting, though!

Penguin: Pain and Prejudice #2

Eric's Pull List for Week 3

[caption id=“attachment_170” align=“alignleft” width=“195” caption=“Penguin: Pain and Prejudice #2”] [/caption] Links go out to my reviews on Comic Vine. Avenging Spider-Man #1 - This is a hilarious issue featuring Spider-Man and Red Hulk investigating an issue in New York City. The writing is great and the art matches the quality. Penguin: Pain and Prejudice #2 - a cinematic look at the origins of Penguin and how Mr Cobblepot grew up. You really should be reading this mini-series. Marvel Point One One-Shot - a bunch of short stories that let you know what’s coming up in Marvel next year. Great stories, but you’ll probably find out about all this within Comic Vine’s news feed. Magneto: Not a Hero #1 - It looks like Magneto goes on a rampage. What’s really going on? Find out in this mini-series. Huntress Vol 3 #2 - the story continues as Helena tries to foil a human smuggling and prostitution ring. Another great mini-series that’s a lot of fun to read.
