X-Men: Days of Future Past opened in theaters across America this weekend. The movie is a strong installment in the X-Men franchise and manages to fix some of the continuity errors and poor decisions from past movies that have frustrated fans of the series. There are a lot of good things about the movie and it is very entertaining; however the decision to retell the comic story Days of Future Past in the movieverse that FOX has established led to some questionable changes.

This time I’ll be looking at Uncanny X-Men: Divided We Stand. This story arc takes place in the aftermath of the crazy Messiah CompleX, in which the first post-M-Day mutant was born. At the end of that arc Cyclops proclaims that the X-Men are no more. Given that, there are certain expectations that come from an arc called “Divided We Stand”. ...

[caption id=“attachment_528” align=“alignleft” width=“195” caption=“Batman Vol 2 #6”] [/caption] Batman Vol 2 #6 - see the linked review Nightwing Vol 3 #6 - the story is near its conclusion and it’s still pretty great Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 #679.1 - a great one-off that gives us more time with Uatu Jackson and sets up a future storyline Uncanny X-Men Vol 2 #7 - this arc is about one issue too long, but it continues to have some great action. Red Hood and the Outlaws #6 - see the linked review X-Factor #232 - The story arc ends with a lot of great humor and possibly setting up some future arcs

Generation Hope #15 Nightwing Vol 3 #5 - the main plot takes a break while Dick deals with Voodoo! Red Hood and the Outlaws #5 - the book once again looks exciting. We’ll see if #6 is disappointing or if Lobdell breaks the trend. Generation Hope #15 - Sebastian Shaw is brought back to Utopia and all hell breaks loose. Marvel once again teases that Hope will be the Phoenix in Avengers vs X-Men later this year Uncanny X-Men Vol 2 #5 - The X-Men unknowingly deal with the consequences of the recently ended Uncanny X-Force story line. Daredevil Vol 3 #8 - Part two of The Devil and Details (started in ASM) is AWESOME! Ties back into earlier Daredevil story lines and has great dialogue. Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 #678 - Time travel has some unexpected side effects for Spidey Uncanny X-Force #20 - Fantomex must face trial for his murder of Apocalypse and Psylocke gets an interesting offer

This week was actually a really tough week for me. I was unsure whether to pick Action Comics #5 (which was really emotional this week), Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha & Omega #1 which had an interesting concept, or the one I ultimately chose, Uncanny X-Men #4. Although, when I met Dan to swap issues, it turned out to be a good thing I didn’t pick WatX:A&O since he’d received it as a free issue (his comic shop seems to do that pretty often) and didn’t much care for it. ...

This week was a very small release for me, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t have some fun titles to read. It was a bit X-Men week, that’s for sure! I had 3 explicit X-Men books and Avengers: Children’s Crusade features them quite heavily as well. [caption id=“attachment_385” align=“alignleft” width=“197” caption=“X-Men Legacy #260”] [/caption] Uncanny X-Men Vol 2 #3 - The X-Men face off against Mr Sinister AND the Celestials. Also, some information about Hope is divulged. Pretty good issue although it depends on how much you like Sinister’s rants. Avengers: Children’s Crusade #8 - Things continue to get complicated in the mini-series that’s bringing Scarlett Witch back into everyone’s life. Teen Titans Vol 4 #4 - The battle gets started, but just barely. Next issue will have the real face-off Astonishing X-Men Vol 3 #45 - This story arc starts getting really interesting. I think next issue’s going to prove pretty exciting X-Men Legacy #260 - Mike Carey ends his run and this arc. It’s going to be a different book starting next issue. Batman: The Dark Knight Vol 2 #4 - this issue has good and bad parts but it’s still not a great case for why there are so many Batman titles
