FF #16 - Valeria's feelings about future Valeria

Week 16: FF #16 vs Avenging Spider-Man #5

[caption id=“attachment_535” align=“alignleft” width=“194” caption=“FF 16”] [/caption] Eric’s Book Eric: Well, there’s been a bit of a break while I was adjusting to being a father and didn’t really have time to read my comics in the week in which they came out. But we’re back! And we have another brawl between two books from the House of Ideas. This week I thought for a long while about picking Avengers vs X-Men #0 because of Dan’s hatred for 616 X-Men. Also, I wanted Dan to see what a colossal a-hole Vision was to Scarlett Witch. Even Tony Stark was like, “Bro!” But I ended up going with my true favorite comic of the week and FF makes yet another appearance on this site. I think my favorite thing about this issue was the fact that it’s told from Valeria’s perspective and Hickman does a perfect job making her both a 3 year old and a genius. ...

Dan's Pull List for Week 6

[caption id="" align=“alignleft” width=“180” caption=“Swamp Thing #4 was about as gory as a comic book can get nowadays”] [/caption] Swamp Thing #4 - I’m sad that Paquette wasn’t on art duties this month, but that didn’t stop the book from being the prettiest of the week. Animal Man #4 - So grotesque all the time, but I’m intrigued with how this will tie in with Swamp Thing Avenging Spider-Man #2 - Fantastic pencils, inking, and colors plus a lot of humor makes for a good book Chew #22 - Speaking of humor…This book is the best series out there right now. Olive is a badass, guys. Moon Knight # 8 - I still really love Maleev’s art on this. It’s so gritty and messy, but spectacular nonetheless. X-23 #18 - I’m gonna miss this when it’s gone. Too bad Phil Noto isn’t still on it… ...

Marvel Comic App - using the magnifying option

A Review of the Marvel Comic App on Chrome

Since Avenging Spider-Man #1 came with a free digital copy, I decided to check out the Marvel Comic App. I don’t have a smartphone, so I had to check it out in Chrome. Marvel Chrome Comic app starts up I take a look around at the app. Along the top is the menu bar. In the middle they have a featured book and a free book available. Along the bottom they have their featured comic book runs. They’re arranged so as to mimic a bunch of books in a comic shop. It’s one of those things that looks nicer than it works in practice. You essentially have to go from back to front because going the other way makes the issues block the ones behind them. ...

Penguin: Pain and Prejudice #2

Eric's Pull List for Week 3

[caption id=“attachment_170” align=“alignleft” width=“195” caption=“Penguin: Pain and Prejudice #2”] [/caption] Links go out to my reviews on Comic Vine. Avenging Spider-Man #1 - This is a hilarious issue featuring Spider-Man and Red Hulk investigating an issue in New York City. The writing is great and the art matches the quality. Penguin: Pain and Prejudice #2 - a cinematic look at the origins of Penguin and how Mr Cobblepot grew up. You really should be reading this mini-series. Marvel Point One One-Shot - a bunch of short stories that let you know what’s coming up in Marvel next year. Great stories, but you’ll probably find out about all this within Comic Vine’s news feed. Magneto: Not a Hero #1 - It looks like Magneto goes on a rampage. What’s really going on? Find out in this mini-series. Huntress Vol 3 #2 - the story continues as Helena tries to foil a human smuggling and prostitution ring. Another great mini-series that’s a lot of fun to read. Dan's Pull List for Week 3

Now that Spider-Island is over my pull list is getting smaller and smaller! Batwoman #3 - Continues to be one of the best illustrated books I’m reading. I’m pretty interested to see where this arc is going since the villain is so secondary to anything going on. Digging all the plot and character development. Avenging Spider-Man #1 - Joe Mads and Zeb Wells put together quite a fun book. Filled with great jokes and quips without overdoing it like Dan Slott combined with solid, dynamic art. The Thor in the Avengers panel was particularly well done. I’m excited about this new book. ...
