Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Pow #3: Amazing Spider-Man #2: Fighting Senior Citizens

Even in the second issue of his brand new series, Spider-Man gains enemies that are still around today. https://youtu.be/2nFlhxpUWhg I forgot to mention in the video, it’s interesting that Parker is a teenager in high school and both his villains in this issue are very old men. 129728-29757-supreme-intelligence 812651-shiar1 890813-super\_skrull\_00 ASM 2 - Little Green Men ASM 2 - Peter Pays the REnt ASM 2 - Quiet Flying ASM 2 - Spidey Schaudenfreude ASM 2 - Spidey Taking Photos ASM 2 - Spying through Radios ASM 2 - Tinkerer Mask ASM 2 - Vulture Note ASM 2 - Wordy First Page ASM 2 - Working with Electronics Expert ASM 688 - Less Wordy Riddler\_02

The Amazing Spider-Man Annual #39

Video Review - Amazing Spider-Man Annual #39

Thought I’d spice things up a bit with video reviews. This is my first one and I’m just getting back into video editing, so it’s a bit rough, but I hope to do one of these either weekly or biweekly.

[caption id=“attachment_528” align=“alignleft” width=“195” caption=“Batman Vol 2 #6”] [/caption] Batman Vol 2 #6 - see the linked review Nightwing Vol 3 #6 - the story is near its conclusion and it’s still pretty great Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 #679.1 - a great one-off that gives us more time with Uatu Jackson and sets up a future storyline Uncanny X-Men Vol 2 #7 - this arc is about one issue too long, but it continues to have some great action. Red Hood and the Outlaws #6 - see the linked review X-Factor #232 - The story arc ends with a lot of great humor and possibly setting up some future arcs

Generation Hope #15

Eric's Week 11 Pull List

Generation Hope #15 Nightwing Vol 3 #5 - the main plot takes a break while Dick deals with Voodoo! Red Hood and the Outlaws #5 - the book once again looks exciting. We’ll see if #6 is disappointing or if Lobdell breaks the trend. Generation Hope #15 - Sebastian Shaw is brought back to Utopia and all hell breaks loose. Marvel once again teases that Hope will be the Phoenix in Avengers vs X-Men later this year Uncanny X-Men Vol 2 #5 - The X-Men unknowingly deal with the consequences of the recently ended Uncanny X-Force story line. Daredevil Vol 3 #8 - Part two of The Devil and Details (started in ASM) is AWESOME! Ties back into earlier Daredevil story lines and has great dialogue. Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 #678 - Time travel has some unexpected side effects for Spidey Uncanny X-Force #20 - Fantomex must face trial for his murder of Apocalypse and Psylocke gets an interesting offer

X-Men Legacy #260.1

Eric's Week 10 Pull List

[caption id=“attachment_434” align=“alignleft” width=“197” caption=“X-Men Legacy #260.1”] [/caption] X-Men Legacy #260.1 - Rogue and team head to Wolverine’s school to work security. They struggle with the idea of keeping the kids from having the X-Men childhood they did. The book leaves Mike Carey’s hands, but Christos Gage does a good job with his first issue. Superboy Vol 5 #5 - a little more forward momentum on the story, but not much Magneto: Not A Hero #3 - this mini-series continues to explore how Magneto has and hasn’t evolved over the years. Depending on how it ends next month, could be something I recommend for the trades Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 #677 - the start of a short crossover with Daredevil. It’s a fun story and I’m curious to see how it ends [caption id=“attachment_435” align=“alignright” width=“193” caption=“Batwoman #5”] [/caption] ...

X-Factor #228

Eric's Pull List for Week 6

A fairly good week for my pull list. Lots of great comics rivaling The Defenders for this week’s POW! Most, if not all, of the links are out to Comic Vine. X-23 #18 Action Comics #4 - Grant Morrison goes back to a Golden Age (or is it a Silver Age?) story about Braniac bottling up various planets. In the original story it allowed Superman a way to go back home. We’ll see where Grant Morrison goes with it since he usually takes stuff from the old days and then gives it a twist. X-23 #18 - X-23’s attempts to keep the Richards kids continues to spiral out of control. We also get some great moments of emotional growth for X-23 that really make me sad that Marjorie Liu is losing this title. X-23’s remained emotionally stunted for years (decades?) in our real life timeline and Liu has really done great things with her! Amazing Spider-Man #675 - The Vulture arc ratchets up. I’m not 100% sure where things go from here, but it’s nice to see Spidey and Carlie able to work together in the service of fighting crime. X-Men Vol 3 #22 - The International action continues! Action!! A good guilty pleasure! X-Factor #228 ...

A Look back at the Amazing Spider-Man's Brand New Day

While I’m currently mostly focused on collecting the X-Men trades (because of the very complex storylines over all the involved characters), I decided to pick up the first two volumes of Brand New Day because they were in my local shop’s Buy Two, Get One Free hardcover section. Since it may be a while before I get Volume 3, 1 thought I’d take a look at how well these two volumes fit together within the larger arc of Brand New Day — especially since they were rotating writers at the time. It’s the first attempt at something I’ve been wanting to do here on CP! between POW! entries —go back and look at entire arcs and see how that changes how I view the individual issues. Well, let’s get started! ...

Week 2: Amazing Spider-Man #673 vs Swamp Thing #3

Eric’s Book [caption id=“attachment_89” align=“alignleft” width=“197” caption=“Amazing Spider-Man #673”] [/caption] Eric: So here we are in Week 2 of Comic POW! Dan: Electric Boogaloo Eric: You feeling good about your selection? Dan: Oh, totally Eric: So this week I decided to go with Amazing Spider-Man #673. This was somewhat of a tough choice for me because it’s an epilogue to a long Spider-Man event but I thought it also worked really well on its own. Also, it just so happened to be the best of all the books this week. ...
