And we all know that covers don’t lie. Dan: Well, hmm…That’s a wrap then, folks! Eric: Alright, another notch in the win column for me! Well, just to go through the motions - this is the latest of the parallel story arcs that Hickman set into motion when Reed tried to Solve Everything. (The other half being told in FF) Because we’ve covered FF and F4 before - the quickest recap is that Johnny Storm is back and he’s now the leader of the Negative Zone baddies. He and the rest of the Future Foundation adults are in space, fighting the Kree Invasion which has beef with Earth because that’s where the Inhumans come from. Black Bolt’s crew is also in the battle, but don’t seem to be contributing to the win much. Back on Earth, bits of debris from the fight are demolishing NYC for like the 8th time in the past twelve months. ...

Generation Hope #15 Nightwing Vol 3 #5 - the main plot takes a break while Dick deals with Voodoo! Red Hood and the Outlaws #5 - the book once again looks exciting. We’ll see if #6 is disappointing or if Lobdell breaks the trend. Generation Hope #15 - Sebastian Shaw is brought back to Utopia and all hell breaks loose. Marvel once again teases that Hope will be the Phoenix in Avengers vs X-Men later this year Uncanny X-Men Vol 2 #5 - The X-Men unknowingly deal with the consequences of the recently ended Uncanny X-Force story line. Daredevil Vol 3 #8 - Part two of The Devil and Details (started in ASM) is AWESOME! Ties back into earlier Daredevil story lines and has great dialogue. Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 #678 - Time travel has some unexpected side effects for Spidey Uncanny X-Force #20 - Fantomex must face trial for his murder of Apocalypse and Psylocke gets an interesting offer

I almost chose Daredevil #8 for my entry this week because I thought Waid did such a great job on the writing. There were neat twists, great dialogs, and an overall fun plot that ties into the story Dan selected in Week 5. Dan: Plus it would have been a neat twist to see a book that I read and champion being selected by you instead. ...

They struggle with the idea of keeping the kids from having the X-Men childhood they did. The book leaves Mike Carey’s hands, but Christos Gage does a good job with his first issue. Superboy Vol 5 #5 - a little more forward momentum on the story, but not much Magneto: Not A Hero #3 - this mini-series continues to explore how Magneto has and hasn’t evolved over the years. Depending on how it ends next month, could be something I recommend for the trades Amazing Spider-Man Vol 2 #677 - the start of a short crossover with Daredevil. But I really liked this issue and I figured this was a good a point as any for Dan to jump on as it was after the end of the last arc. ...

Lots of fun. X-23 #20 - I thought this was the last issue, but apparently it’s the penultimate. Pretty good friendship issue between Laura and Jubilee. It was an absolute joy to have Phil Noto back. Irredeemable #33 - The crossover event continues. What a stupid-crazy last page! I almost don’t like it because of how out of left field it was. It’s gonna mean neat things for the story. ...

Man, it was a crazy year to get back into Comics. Speaking of which, right before the year ends, Johnny Storm returns! Uncanny X-Men was relaunched for the first time since it came to be in the 1980s Flashpoint and all the crazy changes to the DC universe Scott Snyder’s amazing run on Detective Comics ended with an AWESOME final arc [caption id=“attachment_410” align=“alignleft” width=“197” caption=“Wolverine and the X-Men #3”] [/caption] ...

Some great issues and some OK issues. All links go to Comic Vine. X-Men Vol 3 #23 - The end of the Sentinels in Eastern Europe arc. Good, but not great. Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha & Omega #1 - Quentin once again causes issues at a Mutant School. This time he takes on Wolverine directly. I’m curious to see where it goes. The Defenders Vol 4 #2 - Matt Fraction continues to weave a crazy story here Huntress Vol 3 #4 - Things in this usually awesome mini-series took a turn for the worse. Hopefully it recovers Avengers: X-Sanction #2 - More Action! More Cable! Uncanny X-Force #19.1 - Really just an intro to a new Age of Apocalypse book that Marvel’s launching this year X-23 Vol 2 #20 - An awesome penultimate book in this series [caption id=“attachment_404” align=“alignright” width=“195” caption=“Penguin: Pain and Prejudice #4”] [/caption] ...

This week was actually a really tough week for me. I was unsure whether to pick Action Comics #5 (which was really emotional this week), Wolverine and the X-Men: Alpha & Omega #1 which had an interesting concept, or the one I ultimately chose, Uncanny X-Men #4. Although, when I met Dan to swap issues, it turned out to be a good thing I didn’t pick WatX:A&O since he’d received it as a free issue (his comic shop seems to do that pretty often) and didn’t much care for it. ...
